Tap Hurling
in progressA 3D mobile hurling game in Godot — free-taking, a football mode, and player progression.
A mobile hurling game built in Godot 4.7, aimed at Android. You try to put the ball over the bar or past a keeper, with wind and distance working against you. Inspired by the Flick Rugby game from 2010
What’s interesting about it
Based on the classic Irish sport of Hurling, the player tries to score as many dead ball free’s as possible. Its a simple mobile game for passing the time, simple mechanically but with lots of incentives to keep playing, achievements, cosmetic unlocks and leaderboards.
Simple Mechanics
Tap to flick the sliotar into the air and time your swipe to strike at the perfect moment and send the ball over the bar. Limited lives, the wind working against you and a keeper defending the goal - the challenge increases over time.
Grow your player
As you play your player will improve their power, accuracy in the wind and goal scoring prowess, prioritise your growth by choosing which class to level up and build the ultimate hurler.
Momentum is a key factor
Once you get going on a streak or score a particulalrly difficult point, your momentum will build and let you access some powerful abilities; a penalty right in front of goal, a multi-ball blitz to score big all at once, or a precious extra life.
Customization
Unlock various skins for the sliotar, football, keeprs jersey and even the grounds! Skins are awarded for unlocking achievements, or spending some of your earned XP. Lots of variations for county colours and special effects
Football is coming too
It started as Tap Hurling, but football was the natural next step. It’s simpler mechanically as you strike the ball directly off the ground, but those long distance shots need to be perfect and the goalkeeper will have an easier time.
Where it is
Playable, but still in development; all the major mechnanics are completed and now its a case of refining, playtesting and balancing. Google Play services will be added and the priority is an Android release, with iPhone to follow if things go well.
